"Orchestral Suite"Premier, Cairo Symphony Orchestra, Conductor: Christoph Mueller, Cairo Opera House, Main Hall, Saturday, September 11, 2004- (9:00PM).
This composition belongs to a genre known as musical miniatures which he uses in many of his compositions in The third period of his professional live (Cairo , 1997-2007). ( See list of Works). The style of the miniatures relies in intensifying the musical material while avoiding all types of musical narratives and developmental procedures.
The composiiton is asuit of six independent, very short and concise movements. Characterized by the quick, intense and short cuts used in modern cinema. This technique creates very distinct dramatic moods throughout the suite.
Dissonant harmonic formulas and polyphonic textures dominate his composition. He uses his pioneer technique which called "Maqamism". This technique is combine between the Arabic scales and dodecaphony. He writes melodies in Arabic "Maqamat" such as: Saba, Hegaz, and Kord. He uses contrapuntal entries in the second and sixth movement. in the fourth moment, he uses writes a counterpointed imitation between the melodies with daring "Maqamic" modulations and Egyptian pattern ostinato. In the final movement, he writes traditional harmoney which be performed in unique irregular pattern rhythm.
